There would be very few people in this generation who would be familiar with this thick cloth bag called chagall.

Many people will be shocked to hear that water is in a cloth bag!

It is a matter of those days when neither bottled water was available in the market, nor was water traded, nor were there any camps, nor Milton bottles.

Drinking water in summer was considered a religion and carrying one's own water from home was considered a good deed.

Used in summer, this Chagal was a thick cloth (canvas) bag, whose end was like the mouth of a bottle and it was closed with a wooden block.

Which one of you has used it?

When people used to fill water in Chagal, when they went on a journey, many people used to hang it on the window outside the train and the outside air used to enter through the hole of that cloth bag and cool the water. That natural coolness was unmatched!

When the officers used to sit inside the jeep in summer, then their hair used to hang outside on the jeep. Farmers used to go towards the market by hanging Chagal on the harness of the bullock cart.

This was the water system of our forefathers and the biggest thing is that if a passer-by saw cold water from Chagall and asked for it, no one would have refused because at that time people used to consider giving water to a thirsty person as a virtue and even today it is very important. People believe this, as well as water can be bought or sold, these people could not even imagine. Now the generation that buys a liter of water for Rs.20, neither knows Chagall nor the taste of its water.

Don't say four to six months old water sold in the name of mineral water.

Say yes to Chagall's fresh and pure water.

इस पीढ़ी में बहुत कम लोग होंगे जो इस मोटे कपड़े की थैली से परिचित होंगे जिसे छागल कहा जाता है.

ये सुनकर कई लोग चौंक पड़ेंगे कि पानी कपड़े की थैली में!

ये उन दिनों की बात है जब न बाजार में बोतल बंद पानी मिलता था, ना पानी का व्यापार होता था, न कोई कैम्प थे, न Milton की बोतलें थी.

गर्मी में पानी पिलाना धर्म और खुद का पानी घर से लेकर निकलना अच्छा कर्म माना जाता था.

गर्मी के दिनो मे उपयोग आने वाली ये छागल एक मोटे कपड़े (कैनवास) का थैला होता था,जिसका सिरा एक बोतल के मुंह जैसा होता था और वह एक लकड़ी के गुट्टे से बंद होता था

आप में से किसने इसका उपयोग किया है?

छागल में पानी भरकर लोग, यात्रा पर जब जाते थे तब कई लोग ट्रेन के बाहर खिड़की पर उसे टांग देते थे और बाहर की हवा उस कपड़े के थैले के छिद्र से अंदर जाकर पानी को ठंडा करती थी. वो प्राकृतिक ठंडक बेमिसाल थी!

गर्मी में जीप में अंदर जब अफसर बैठे होते थे तब उनकी छाग़ल बाहर जीप पर लटकी रहती थी. किसान बैलगाड़ी के खल्ले पर छागल लटकाए मंडी की तरफ जाते थे.

ये हमारे पूर्वजों की पानी व्यवस्था थी और सबसे बड़ी बात रास्ते में किसी राहगीर ने अगर छागल का ठंडा पानी देखकर उसे मांग लिया तो कोई मना भी नहीं करता था क्योंकि उस समय लोग किसी प्यासे को पानी पिलाना पुण्य का काम मानते थे और आज भी बहुत लोग इस बात को मानते हैं, साथ ही पानी खरीदा जा सकता है या बेचा जा सकता है ये लोग कल्पना भी नहीं कर सकते थे. अब 20 रूपये का एक लीटर पानी खरीदने वाली पीढ़ी ना छागल जानती है ना उसके पानी का स्वाद.

मिनरल वाटर के नाम बिकने वाले चार छह महीने पुराने पानी को कहे ना ।।
