Real joy.

 A father and son went for a walk together, they came out towards the far fields, then the son saw that on the way, a pair of old shoes had come off, which probably belonged to the poor laborer working in the nearby farm.

Son Lakshmi Kant thought it a joke and said to his father - Why not make this evening memorable with a little mischief, after all fun is the true source of happiness. The father looked at the son with confusion.

The son said - let us hide these shoes somewhere and hide behind the bushes. It will be a lot of fun when that laborer will get scared of not finding them here. His call will be worth watching, and I will remember the joy of it for the rest of my life.

Father became serious after listening to his son and said - Son!

Never do such a dirty joke with the poor and weak with the things they need.

The things which have no value in your eyes, are priceless for that poor man. You want to make this evening a memorable one, so let's put some coins in these shoes today and secretly see what effect it has on the laborers.

The father did the same and both hid in the tall bushes nearby.

The laborer soon finished his work and came to the place of shoes. As soon as he put one foot in the shoe, he felt something hard, he quickly took the shoe in his hand and saw that there were some coins lying inside. He was very surprised and he took the coins in his hand and started looking at them very carefully.

Then he started looking here and there that who is his helpful person? No one could be seen far and wide, so he put the coins in his pocket. Now he picked up another shoe, coins were lying in it too. The laborer became overwhelmed.

Sitting on the ground on his knees, looking at the sky, he started crying bitterly. He folded hands and said - O God! Today you came here in some form,

Millions of thanks to you and whoever gave this help through you for this timely help. Because of your help and kindness, today my sick wife will be able to get medicine and the hungry children will get bread. You are very kind Lord! Thank you very much.

Hearing the words of the laborer, the son's eyes filled with tears. The father hugged the son and said - Is the joy that this poor man's tears and the blessings given to you for the rest of your life is less than the joy that you remember for the rest of your life, isn't it?

Father.. I am feeling the joy of what I have got to learn from you today. There is a strange peace inside. I will not forget the happiness and joy received today for the rest of my life.

Today I understood the meaning of words which I never understood before. Till today, I used to consider fun and frolic as real happiness, but today I have understood that it is more enjoyable to give than to receive.

वास्तविक आनंद।

 एक पिता पुत्र साथ-साथ टहलने निकले, वे दूर खेतों की तरफ निकल आये, तभी पुत्र ने देखा कि रास्ते में, पुराने हो चुके एक जोड़ी जूते उतरे पड़े हैं, जो संभवतः पास के खेत में काम कर रहे गरीब मजदूर के थे।

पुत्र लक्ष्मी कांत को मजाक सूझा उसने पिता से कहा - क्यों न आज की शाम को थोड़ी शरारत से यादगार बनायें, आखिर मस्ती ही तो आनन्द का सही स्रोत है। पिता ने असमंजस से बेटे की ओर देखा।

पुत्र बोला - हम ये जूते कहीं छुपा कर झाड़ियों के पीछे छुप जाएं। जब वो मजदूर इन्हें यहाँ नहीं पाकर घबराएगा तो बड़ा मजा आएगा। उसकी तलब देखने लायक होगी, और इसका आनन्द मैं जीवन भर याद रखूंगा। 

पिता, पुत्र की बात को सुन गम्भीर हुये और बोले - बेटा !

किसी गरीब और कमजोर के साथ उसकी जरूरत की वस्तु के साथ इस तरह का भद्दा मजाक कभी न करना।

जिन चीजों की तुम्हारी नजरों में कोई कीमत नहीं, वो उस गरीब के लिये बेशकीमती हैं। तुम्हें ये शाम यादगार ही बनानी है, तो आओ आज हम इन जूतों में कुछ सिक्के डाल दें और छुप कर देखें कि इसका मजदूर पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ता है।

पिता ने ऐसा ही किया और दोनों पास की ऊँची झाड़ियों में छुप गए।

मजदूर जल्द ही अपना काम ख़त्म कर जूतों की जगह पर आ गया। उसने जैसे ही एक पैर जूते में डाले उसे किसी कठोर चीज का आभास हुआ, उसने जल्दी से जूते हाथ में लिए और देखा कि अन्दर कुछ सिक्के पड़े थे। उसे बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ और वो सिक्के हाथ में लेकर बड़े गौर से उन्हें देखने लगा।

 फिर वह इधर-उधर देखने लगा कि उसका मददगार शख्स कौन है ? दूर-दूर तक कोई नज़र नहीं आया, तो उसने सिक्के अपनी जेब में डाल लिए। अब उसने दूसरा जूता उठाया, उसमें भी सिक्के पड़े थे। मजदूर भाव विभोर हो गया।

वो घुटनो के बल जमीन पर बैठ आसमान की तरफ देख फूट-फूट कर रोने लगा। वह हाथ जोड़ बोला - हे भगवान् ! आज आप ही किसी रूप में यहाँ आये थे,

समय पर प्राप्त इस सहायता के लिए आपका और आपके माध्यम से जिसने भी ये मदद दी, उसका लाख- लाख धन्यवाद। आपकी सहायता और दयालुता के कारण आज मेरी बीमार पत्नी को दवा और भूखे बच्चों को रोटी मिल सकेगी। तुम बहुत दयालु हो प्रभु ! आपका कोटि-कोटि धन्यवाद।

मजदूर की बातें सुन, बेटे की आँखें भर आयीं। पिता ने पुत्र को सीने से लगाते हुयेे कहा - क्या तुम्हारी मजाक मजे वाली बात से जो आनन्द तुम्हें जीवन भर याद रहता उसकी तुलना में इस गरीब के आँसू और दिए हुये आशीर्वाद तुम्हें जीवन पर्यंत जो आनन्द देंगे वो उससे कम है, क्या ?

पिताजी.. आज आपसे मुझे जो सीखने को मिला है, उसके आनंद को मैं अपने अंदर तक अनुभव कर रहा हूँ। अंदर में एक अजीब सा सुकून है। आज के प्राप्त सुख और आनन्द को मैं जीवन भर नहीं भूलूँगा।

आज मैं उन शब्दों का मतलब समझ गया, जिन्हें मैं पहले कभी नहीं समझ पाया था। आज तक मैं मजा और मस्ती-मजाक को ही वास्तविक आनन्द समझता था, पर आज मैं समझ गया हूँ कि, लेने की अपेक्षा देना कहीं अधिक आनंददायी है।
