The picture is of Devendra, an ordinary taxi driver from Delhi.

Devendra is originally from Bihar. One day a resident of Kashmir sat in Debendra's taxi who had to go from the airport to Paharganj. Devendra dropped her at Paharganj, collected his fare and went back to the taxi stand. Meanwhile, his eyes went to a bag lying in the car. Seeing the bag, Devendra understood that it was the bag of the same ride, which he had left Paharganj shortly before. On opening the bag, it contained some gold jewellery, an Apple laptop, a camera and some cash. After getting everything, there was goods worth about 7 or 8 lakhs.

Immediately the picture of the financier of his taxi flashed in front of Debendra's eyes. after selling so much jewelery

His taxi loan could have been easily repaid. Became happy at once. Ravana sitting in his mind woke up. Stranger's goods started to feel like our own. But this is the irony of life. Both Ram and Ravana reside in the mind.

He had gone only a short distance when Ram, sitting in his mind, woke up. Debendra felt what sin he was going to commit.

Morality came in the way. There was a big dilemma. On one hand the ornaments were lying in front and on the other hand my conscience was cursing itself.

The fight went on for some time but in the end Ram won. Devendra went to the nearby police station and handed over the bag to the SHO on duty.

Now the Thanedar sometimes sees the jewelery lying in the bag and sometimes sees the face of the driver. The police station said that if you wanted, you could have run away with this bag. Devendra replied - "Sir! We are "poor", but not "dishonest".

The police officer also became speechless. He felt that the driver was really poor but honest.

Well the passenger got his bag back safely. As a reward for Devendra's honesty, the owner offered him some money, but Devendra flatly refused.

The real story begins next –

The SHO narrated the saga of Devendra's honesty in front of a media person.

The media person was also impressed like the police station. He decided to publish the news of this honesty in the newspaper.

He met Devendra and while interviewing him asked - "What would he do if he gets the value of the goods lying in the bag (Rs 8 lakh)."

Devendra said that he would first repay the loan of the financier and then, if possible, buy a taxi.

The reporter said that you have a debt on your head, so why didn't you run away with the bag? Devendra also told the reporter that sir, we are poor but not dishonest. Like the police station, now the reporter is also affected.

The reporter told the saga of his honesty to a radio jockey of FM channel. Devendra's story was told to the people of Delhi through FM radio...

Simultaneously, the people of Delhi were also told about Devendra's debt. Along with this, a bank account number of Devendra was also given, in which he could help honest Devendra to pay off his debt by depositing money in it.

Only after 2 hours...... in just 120 minutes

Delhi deposited Rs 91751 in Debendra's account.

And got 8 lakh rupees in just 2 days.

Everyone gave money according to their status. Dilwalo ki Dilli freed Devendra from debt as a gift of his honesty. Millions of people appreciated his honesty.

Even today, Devendra says that not allowing Ravana of mind to dominate Ram was the biggest victory of his life. If he had run away with the bag, he would have repaid the debt but he would never have been able to forgive himself.

It has been proved true that Ravan sitting in the mind dominates in today's system. But Ram sitting in the mind is capable of killing Dashanan even today. Even today there is a thread wide gap between good and evil. Ram went this way and Ravana went there.

Poor driver Devendra listened to his heart and rejected the logic of his mind, proved by his values that wealth does not come by usurping someone else's hard earned money. Only honesty can make life happy and prosperous

टैक्सी चालक।

                                                           

तस्वीर दिल्ली के एक साधारण टैक्सी चालक देवेन्द्र की है.

देवेन्द्र मूलतः बिहार के रहने वाले हैं। एक दिन देबेन्द्र की टैक्सी में कश्मीर का निवासी बैठा जिसे एयरपोर्ट से पहाड़गंज तक जाना था। देवेन्द्र ने उसको पहाड़गंज छोड़ा, अपना किराया वसूला और वापिस टैक्सी स्टैंड की ओर चल पड़े। इसी बीच उनकी नज़र गाड़ी में पड़े एक बैग पर गयी। बैग को देखकर देवेंद्र समझ गए कि यह उसी सवारी का बैग है, जिसे कुछ ही समय पहले वह पहाड़गंज छोड़ कर आये हैं। बैग को खोलकर देखा तो उसमें कुछ स्वर्ण आभूषण, एक एप्पल का लैपटॉप, एक कैमरा और कुछ नगद पैसे थे। सब कुछ मिला के लगभग 7 या 8 लाख का सामान था।।

एकदम देबेन्द्र की आँखों के सामने अपनी टैक्सी के फाइनेन्सर की तस्वीर आ गयी। इतने आभूषण बेच कर तो 

उनकी टैक्सी का कर्ज आसानी से उतर सकता था। एक दम से प्रसन्न हो उठे। उनके मन में बैठा रावण जाग उठा। पराया माल अपना लगने लगा। परन्तु जीवन की यही तो विडम्बना है। मन में राम और रावण दोनों निवास करते हैं।

कुछ ही दूर गये थे के मन में बैठे राम जाग उठे। देबेन्द्र को लगा के वह कैसा पाप करने जा रहे थे।

नैतिकता आड़े आ गयी। बड़ी दुविधा थी। एक ओर आभूषण सामने पड़े थे और दूसरी ओर अपनी अंतरात्मा खुद को ही धिक्कार रही थी।

कुछ देर द्वंद चला पर अंत में विजय राम की ही हुई। देवेन्द्र पास के पुलिस स्टेशन गये और बैग ड्यूटी पर मौजूद थानेदार के हाथ में थमा दिया।

अब थानेदार कभी बैग में पड़े आभूषण देखे और कभी ड्राइवर का चेहरा देखे। थानेदार ने कहा कि तू अगर चाहता तो यह बैग लेकर भाग सकता था। देवेन्द्र ने जवाब दिया - "साहब ! हम "गरीब" हैं, पर "बेईमान" नहीं हैं।"

थानेदार भी निःशब्द हो गया। उसे लगा कि ड्राइवर सच में गरीब तो है किंतु ईमानदार है।

ख़ैर सवारी को उसका बैग सकुशल वापिस मिल गया। देवेन्द्र की ईमानदारी के इनाम के रूप में मालिक ने उसे कुछ रुपये देने की पेशकश की तो देवेन्द्र ने साफ मना कर दिया।

असली कथा आगे शुरू होती है –

थानेदार ने देवेन्द्र की ईमानदारी की गाथा एक मीडियाकर्मी के आगे सुना दी ।

मीडियाकर्मी भी थानेदार की तरह प्रभावित हो गया। उसने इस ईमानदारी की खबर अखबार में छापने की ठान ली ।

वह देवेन्द्र से मिला और उसका साक्षात्कार लेते हुये पूछा- "अगर बैग में पड़े सामान की कीमत (8 लाख रुपये) उसे मिल जायें तो वह क्या करेगा।"

देवेन्द्र ने कहा कि पहले तो फाइनेन्सर का कर्जा चुकाएगा और फिर अगर सम्भव हुआ तो एक टैक्सी खरीदेगा।

रिपोर्टर ने कहा कि तेरे सर पर कर्ज़ है तो तू बैग लेकर भाग क्यों नहीं गया? देवेन्द्र ने रिपोर्टर से भी यही कहा कि साहब, हम गरीब हैं पर बेईमान नहीं हैं। थानेदार की तरह अब रिपोर्टर भी प्रभावित हुआ।

रिपोर्टर ने उसकी ईमानदारी की गाथा एफ एम चैनल के एक रेडियो जॉकी को बताई। एफ एम रेडियो के ज़रिए देवेन्द्र की कहानी दिल्लीवासियों को सुना दी गई...

साथ ही साथ दिल्ली वालों को देवेन्द्र के कर्ज के विषय में भी बताया गया। इसी के साथ देवेन्द्र का एक बैंक खाता नम्बर भी दिया गया,  जिसमे धनराशि डाल कर वह ईमानदार देवेन्द्र का कर्ज़ उतारने में उसकी मदद कर सकते थे।

केवल 2 घँटे बाद ही...... मात्र 120 मिनट में

दिल्ली ने देबेन्द्र के खाते में 91751 रुपये डलवा दिये।

और 8 लाख रुपये मिल गए मात्र 2 दिन में।

सबने अपनी हैसियत के हिसाब से पैसा दिया। दिलवालो की दिल्ली ने देवेन्द्र की ईमानदारी के उपहार में उसे ऋण मुक्त कर दिया। लाखों लोगों ने उसकी ईमानदारी को सराहा....

देवेन्द्र आज भी कहते हैं कि मन के रावण को राम पर हावी ना होने देना उनके जीवन की सबसे बड़ी जीत थी। अगर वह बैग लेकर भाग जाते तो कर्ज़ा तो उतार लेते पर खुद को कभी माफ नहीं कर पाते।

यह सच सिद्ध हो गया कि मन में बैठा रावण आज की व्यवस्था में हावी है। परन्तु मन में बैठे राम आज भी दशानन का वध करने में सक्षम हैं। अच्छाई और बुराई मे आज भी धागे भर का फासला है। इस ओर गये तो राम और उस ओर गये तो रावण।

गरीब ड्राइवर देवेन्द्र ने दिल की सुनी और दिमाग के तर्क को नकार दिया, अपने संस्कार से सिद्ध किया कि किसी और के परिश्रम से अर्जित धन को हड़पने से धन नहीं आता। ईमानदारी ही जीवन को सुखी और समृद्ध बना सकती है
