अगर मैं यह कहूँ कि आपको अपने से कमजोर से शिक्षा लेनी चाहिए, तो शायद आप हंसेंगे, लेकिन जरा ध्यान से सोचें कि कमजोर से आप क्या सीख सकते हैं? इसका जवाब आपको इस कहानी में मिल सकता है।

विश्वविख्यात दार्शनिक सुकरात के बारे में तो आपने सुना ही होगा। सुकरात का व्यक्तित्व कुछ ऐसा था कि हर तरह के लोग उनके साथ काफी सहज महसूस करते थे। वे उनसे तरह-तरह के सवाल करते और अपनी समस्याओं का समाधान जानने की कोशिश करते थे। सुकरात सबको समान भाव से जवाब देते थे। उनकी कोशिश होती थी कि हर कोई उनके जवाब से संतुष्ट होकर ही जाये।

           एक बार सुकरात से किसी ने पूछा, 'आपके गुरु कौन हैं?' सुकरात ने हंसते हुए कहा.....

'तुम मेरे गुरु के संबंध में जानना चाहते हो?' एक मिनट रुक कर उन्होंने अपनी बात को जारी रखते हुए कहा, 'दुनिया भर में जितने भी मूर्ख हैं, वे सब मेरे गुरु हैं।

          उस व्यक्ति ने सोचा कि शायद सुकरात मज़ाक कर रहे हैं। वह अक्सर ऐसा किया करते थे। वह व्यक्ति उस समय गंभीर था, इसलिए उसने अपना सवाल दोहराया और सुकरात से निवेदन किया कि कृपया इसका गंभीरता से जवाब दें। सुकरात ने जब वही उत्तर दोहराया तो उसे बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ।

सुकरात का जवाब उसे समझ नहीं आया। उसने पूछा- 'मूर्ख आपके गुरु कैसे हो सकते हैं?' सुकरात ने उस व्यक्ति को समझाया, 'मैं यह देखने की कोशिश करता हूँ कि किस दोहा के कारण किसी को मूर्ख कहा जा रहा है। यदि वह दोष मेरे अंदर भी होता है, तो उससे शिक्षा लेकर मैं अपने अंदर के उन दोषों को दूर कर लेता हूँ, ताकि मैं मूर्ख न कहा जाऊं। इस तरह मैने जो ज्ञान प्राप्त किया है, उन्हीं से शिक्षा लेकर प्राप्त किया है। अगर मूर्ख न होते तो मुझे अपने को दुरुस्त करने का अवसर कैसे मिलता। अब तुम्हीं बताओ कि मूर्ख मेरे वास्तविक गुरु हुए कि नहीं।' वह व्यक्ति सुकरात के इस जवाब से पूरी तरह संतुष्ट हो गया। अब आपको मेरे सवाल का जवाब मिल गया होगा कि आखिर अपने से कमजोर से हम क्या सीख सकते हैं। वास्तव में यह बेहद जरूरी है और उतना ही जरूरी है, जितना अपने से ज्यादा प्रतिभाशाली लोगों से सीखना। इसमें संतुलन होना चाहिए। एक तरफ आपको अपने से बुद्धिमान लोगों से यह सीखना चाहिए कि उनके पास क्या है, जो आपके पास नहीं है और आपको पाना है, तो दुसरी ओर कमजोर से यह सीखना चाहिए कि उनमें क्या कमी है, जिसे आपको खुद में दूर करना है। यह बेहद आसान है और इसकी शुरुआत आप आज से ही कर सकते हैं।

If that flaw also happens in me, then by taking education from it, I remove those defects inside me, so that I am not called a fool. In this way, the knowledge that I have gained, I have received from them. Had I not been a fool, how would I have had the opportunity to repair myself? Now tell you whether fools are my real teachers or not. ' The person was completely satisfied with Socrates' reply. There should be balance in this.
