          वह व्यक्ति बोला, हां तो नौ इतवार और तीन छुट्टियां। यानी बारह दिन काम नहीं हुआ। मतलब यह कि तुम्हारे 120 रुपये कट गये। पिछले सप्ताह चार दिन मेरी पत्नी ने तुम्हें दोपहर बाद छुट्टी दे दी थी। तो इस तरह तुम्हारे कितने नागे हो गये? बारह और दो चौदह। पिछले सप्ताह तुमने चाय की प्लेटेऔर प्याली तोड़ डाली थी। चलो, मैं उसके 20 रुपये ही काटूंगा। तुम्हारी इसी लापरवाही के कारण हमारी नौकरानी ने बेटी तान्या के जूते चुरा लिये। जूतों के 60 रूपये और कट गये। और हां, दस तारीख को मैंने तुम्हें 100 रुपये दिये थे।

          जी नहीं, आपने मुझे कुछ नहीं दिया.... जूलिया ने दबी जुबान से कहना चाहा। अरे तो क्या मैं झूठ बोल रहा हूँ। मैं डायरी में हर चीज नोट कर लेता हूँ। तो ठीक है घटाओ 600 रुपये में से 300 रुपये। बचे 300 रुपये क्यों ठीक है न?

व्यक्ति बोला, तुम मुझे धन्यवाद दे रही हो, जबकि तुम अच्छी तरह जानती हो कि मैंने तुम्हें ठग लिया है। तुम्हें धोखा दिया है।

जी हाँ, इससे पहले मैंने जहाँ-जहाँ काम किया, उन लोगों ने तो मुझे एक पैसा तक नहीं दिया। आप कम से कम कुछ तो दे रहे हैं।
